Vietnam tourist visa for air travelers

At present, all foreign visitors coming to Vietnam by air can obtain Vietnam tourist visa at arrival airport or at the embassy.

1.  Obtain at the embassy or consulate

You should have the following documents available when applying for a Vietnam tourist visa at the embassy:

- Visa application form (available at the embassy)

- Origin passport with validity dates at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in VN

- 01 passport sized colour photograph

- Vietnam visa fee (contact with the embassy for details about the fee)

A normal process of tourist visa to Vietnam for regular case often takes 2-4 working days depending on the embassy where you are applying at. If you wish to speed up the process, the embassy is willing to provide you the rush service with additional fees.

2.  Pick up Vietnam visa at the airport 

In order to pick up Vietnam visa tourist on arrival, you must submit an online Vietnam visa application through Vietnamese travel websites. Then they will arrange you the visa approval letter that gives you  permission to enter Vietnam and get visa stamped onto your passport. This way is especially beneficial to those who live in a distant place from the embassy or people who have little time to collect documents for application.

The procedure to get Vietnam visa tourist for air travelers includes 4 steps as follows:

a.   Complete the online visa application form correctly

b.  Pay visa processing fee either electronically as a bank transfer

c.   Obtain visa approval letter via email within 2 working days (normal service) or less (expedited process)

d.  Present the letter to get visa stamp and pick up the visa at the airport

Please take note that the Vietnam tourist visa is issued for only one month validity. However, you could apply online for a business visa by this way to stay in Vietnam longer. The Immigration Officer will not care about what type of visa you take for your entry.
