Does Vietnam require visa?

A commonly-seen query that I’ve myself been into quite a lot is “Does Vietnam require visa”?

You probably have a thought of travelling to Vietnam for any sort of personal reasons, and some tiny flickers of intuition that might this third-world country no need your visa requirements, but in point of fact, in order to legally dwell and experience those tropical beauties of Vietnam, you do need your visa verified, but not really. Why is that? I just can safely say, it depends on what your nationality is, where you are come from, and it’s all that matters.

Citizens that are from some of those nations that follow can go right straight to Vietnam with no hold barred (of course, the time of living here is finite). According to the latest update on June 18, 2015, backpackers who has their nationality of German, French, United Kingdom, Italy and Spain, with a period of 15 days, will have a free access to Vietnam with no visa requirement is needed.

One footnote, there are also some exceptions that you might want to keep those in mind.

*French residents whose their passport is classified as two kinds of either Diplomatic Passport or Temporary passport will have a free access to Vietnam without a standard visa as long as they maintain their dwelling for just 90 limited days, or they can be in Vietnam in separated times within 6 months.

*The same to folks from Chile, they can have their living in Vietnam without visa for limited 90 days.

*Residents from country that’s member in APEC and have APEC (ABTC) card also don’t have to acquire a proper visa if they just stay in Vietnam for 60 days.
