Application for Vietnam tourist visa

Vietnam tourist visa is issued by Immigration Department to foreigners who enter Vietnam temporarily as a tourists or to visit family and friends. A tourist visa is normally valid for 1 month and can be extended when you are in Vietnam. It is advisable that a Vietnam visa application should be submitted as soon as possible after you make travel plan.

If you plan to enter Vietnam by bus or cruise, please apply Vietnamese tourist visa for your trip at the nearest Vietnam Embassy or Consulate.

In general, the visa procedure will require:

-  Visa application form (available on website or office of embassy)

-  Original passport (minimum validity of 6 months and at least 01 blank page left)

-  01 recent passport-sized phtoto

-  Vietnam visa fee (contact with the embassy where you are applying at for details)

-  Prepaid return envelop (if the embassy allows you to receive the passport back by post)

At several embassies, you may be requested to provide visa approval from Immigration Department obtained by your sponsor in Vietnam. If you have no sponsor, please contact with the consular for guidance and assistance.

Regarding the process, each embassy and consulate requires different time to process your visa application. Normally, the process ranges from 1 to 4 working days for regular cases.

* In case you enter Vietnam by air, please consider applying for Vietnam visa on arrival as it is currently the cheapest, easiest and quickest way to obtain a Vietnam tourist visa.

The following are 4 steps that you need to follow to obtain tourist visa to Vietnam by visa upon arrival:

1.    Fill out the online visa application form

2.   Pay Vietnam tourist visa fee

3.   Obtain visa approval leter granted by Immigration Department via email after 2 working days

4.   Present the letter for boarding and having a visa stamp at arrival airport.

NOTE:  Vietnam visa on arrival is only available for travelers who enter Vietnam by air only. You can not apply for visa upon arrival if crossing the border into Vietnam.
